Major automakers have announced delivery of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles to the US marketplace in the near future. Increasing gas prices, interest in avoiding foreign oil imports and environmental concerns are driving the demand for vehicles powered by electricity, however, the lack of an adequate public charging infrastructure to support the expected demand could slow down the adoption rate of electric vehicles.
Venta realizes that the success of electric vehicles will depend on the charging station infrastructure to support it. There are gas stations everywhere, but electric charging stations are still quite rare in the US. Of course, some might argue that there really are electric charging stations everywhere; they are electric outlets.
There are only 54 million home garages for the 247 million registered cars in the US. The majority of cars are parked overnight in parking structures, parking lots or curbside. That provides a great opportunity for overnight charging stations to be distributed and installed.
